As I spoke to my doctor her words echoed through the air, eliciting an emotional response that made me tear up. Her words, both validating and bittersweet at the same time, lingered in the room: "The medical system couldn't help you, and you did it on your own. You should be very proud of yourself."

A year and a half prior, I had found myself at the lowest point of my life. Bedridden for an agonizing eight months, I was dependent on constant care, unable to sit up, speak, read or engage with my family for more than fleeting moments. On the better days, my family would push me out to the deck in a wheelchair, enveloping me in blankets and warmth, allowing me to bask in the sun while listening to the birds in the nearby trees.

As someone who formerly strength trained regularly in the gym, went hiking and camping and loved rock climbing, this was officially the lowest, loneliest, scariest place to be in.

With the medical system unable to tell me what was going on, feeling trapped within my own body, gripped by fear and hopelessness, as I laid in bed I distinctly remember the moment that I made the promise to myself to break free from this condition and, once recovered, that I would dedicate myself to using this experience to help others.

Inherent in my nature is a knack for seeing the connections between random bits of information. Through what I can only describe as a series of divine guidance over many difficult months, I received just the right information at the right time. By listening to this divine guidance and my intuition I stumbled upon crucial insights that I was able to connect together that allowed me to understand the root cause of my complex illness— a brain injury stemming from a viral infection from Covid 19.

This revelation prompted an immediate investment in a self-directed neuroplasticity program called DNRS. Listening to the program in bite-sized 3 minute increments over the course of several weeks, I meticulously applied the principles of self-directed neuroplasticity as I laid there, constructing a personalized regimen to rewire my brain across myriad facets of life. Within the first week of being able to fully implement all the daily steps, I walked down the hall and sat at the kitchen table for a meal with my family for the first time since they began caring for me.

I learned that brain injuries seldom result from a singular event; instead, they often manifest through a layering of physical, psychological, bacterial, fungal, viral, and environmental triggers. Unbeknownst to me, I had been exposed to multiple triggers over the years, neglecting my mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being along the way—a neglect that precipitated a profound health crisis. The reality is that I was susceptible to this illness and injury because I was living a life of chronic stress. I had created a situation in my life where I set myself up for crisis.

At around the 6 month mark of rewiring my brain, my foray into self-directed neuroplasticity led me back to "The Biology of Belief" by Bruce Lipton which I had come in contact with many years ago. I was retraining my brain to read by reading all about my big beautiful brain. Little did I know back then that reading the book in it's entirety and the section at the back that mentioned Psych K® would be an absolute game changer for my health. I immediately booked a session with a local facilitator, and within a few sessions decided I would take the training. I still wasn't sure how I was going to manage it at this point in my health journey, as it was being held an hour away from where I lived and was a three day workshop, but I was determined that I was going to make it happen.

This decision to pursue becoming a facilitator myself proved transformative in instilling beliefs of optimal health, facilitating the healing of my trauma, and addressing contributing factors to my condition.

Healing trauma to heal the body and cultivating beliefs that support health is critical to returning to wellness. As I started to work through it, I finally felt that for the first time in my life I was coming back to myself.

By employing deliberate brain-based change strategies and the magic of Psych K®, I undertook the arduous task of rebuilding myself, reclaimed my health, and discovered the paramount importance of trusting one's inner wisdom and prioritizing self-care.

My transformative journey underscores the profound impact of intentional thoughts on reality. I emerged from this experience not only with renewed health, but with a deep understanding that intentional living, with a focus on resilience and self-renewal, can forge paths to prosperity, flourishing relationships, and optimal well-being.

During this time, I also decided that I would take a brain based and solutions focused coaching certification and became a Master Practitioner in Applied Neuroscience alongside my Psych K certifications. I am now honored and grateful to be able to do this work with others.
